This tree is on a hill near the Colorado River. it is 500 years old. You can tell how old it is because of the size of the trunk compared to the doors of the house.

Well it didn't do very good in this challenge. The strong sun rays filtering through the branches were a minus. The grass is sloping but the roof isn't and that is what matters. I can't help it if there is a hill here leading down to the river.

Some people don't really look very well before they judge a photo. But I like it and it did meet the challenge.

What an incredible tree! Would have scored you higher if you could have isolated it a bit more. The house front does not detract as much as the roof and smaller trunk to the right of the subject and the diagonal branch in the UL corner.

An interesting tree, but it doesn't give me a sense of personfication as I understand the challenge guidelines.

2nd look- Good idea, strenght is so commonly attributed to things that perhaps its beyond personification, but essentially its still a human trait. The washed out section in the center is only defect.

I've decided to ignore the whole "is a tree inanimate" debate and just to allow it. That being said, I do think such a tree does show "strength". The composition is a little lacking (sloping grass) and the sky is washed out (a different time of day maybe?). I'll still give it a 7.
