Ah, I remember the first birthday cake my wife made for me....actually don't have to remember it, its holding the den door open.
Perhaps its the curse of AF lens, but so many photos show soft focus when the subject is off center. You got your idea across, just technically limited to a 6 |

| This has more of a snapshot feel. A solid background would help. With this shot I would have cropped next to the stove. Also, the utensils are more in focus than she and the cake are. |
