A little trick that I'll do when I'm shooting a detail image of an object, is to take a piece of tape & wrap it around a couple of fingers, sticky side out. Then very gingerly brush the surface of the object I'm photographing. It does a nice job picking up those little specks of dust that my eyes tend to miss. Great job capturing the texture! Blue Jay isn't it?

Might have projected more dynamic energy if crowded next to (almost touching) the left border. That also would have solidified its claim to a minimalist canvas. 6

Bad thing about macros is alot of times you lose you DOF if your subject isn't completely on the same plane. What is in focus shows very good detail. Your idea was creative and interesting. 7
