This is one of the few times that I had a vision of what I wanted, and applied it to my final image. I have a very similar Black and White print shot at 3200 ASA where the strong grain gives an incredibly strong effect. Of course, I had to add grain to my already noisy digital image.
What I did:
1) started with resizing my image, to avoide noise problems later.
2) Applied a heavy USM on the image. This increased my noise considerably
3) ran through the Optikverve Labs virtual photographer, changed the image to 'film 2', then seleected ISO 1600, and bumped the grain all the way up.
4) ran it through another run of USM, to more or less enhance the grain effect even more.
5) Auto levels / auto color.
6) Bumped up the saturation, and the contrast a bit.
7) saved for web |

Definitely is grainy. Overall, the image seemed to be lacking something, not sure what. Maybe less grain would have enhanced the contours of the statue better without overwhelming it. |

Interesting... sad, but interesting. Great job on the grain - looks perfect! |

Wow, this would be great if you could have blurred the back more, its a bit distracting. Like the amount of noise you used. |

Nice rendition, but a bit too centered maybe. |
