Well, I happen to like the stalk on the left, which adds a certain feeling of the randomness of nature to the image (no offense, Karen!), especially combined with the other out of focus shapes and lines in your effective background. This works well to me because your image is so off center, and this leads my thoughts and assumptions beyond the frame of the image and into its world beyond, so I don't mind seeing extra shapes and lines because they give me more clues to the world of the photo. I love the shape of the iris, and the lines it creates, but I wish it had sharper focus--those lines on the iris, IMHO, should be clear and sharp as a tack. So this is a very nice photo with a soft, gentle feel to it. Nice emotions!
CC twice! You lucky gal!
Hope to see more of your good work in the future!

Critique Club (in case you don't get chosen in the que, and per your request in the forums):
This image boasts a beautiful blue bloom. The orientation of the petal in the foreground leads the eye into the image, and creates a place for the eye to dance along the details/patterns of the petal. The DOF use is very good, and the lighting is done tastefully. The stalk on the left side distracts my eye, and I am left to wonder if you might have been able to push it aside or block it out of the frame in some way. Perhaps cropping it out?
Nice overall feeling.
;)

I would have liked to see the bottom of the petal on this one, too. The colours are very rich and lovely. :) |

Great colours - obvious I know but that rich blue really looks great against the green. I like the curved lines created by the main petal and the choice of shallow DOF too. I don't like that very dark stem at the left - though the pale green ones at different horizontal angles are pretty cool. |

Nice picture, great colours. A bit more focus would be good on the forward edge, but a nice unusual subject, good luck with it. |

Seems a little overly cropped to me as far as the flower itself goes. The stem at the left seems to detract a little, too. Not bad overall, though. |
