I like the top half of your photo. For me, I wonder how this would have looked if you cropped out more of the foreground? |

The rays of light are a nice touch to the photo. It is my favorite part of the image. The foreground seems to be very distracting, though. It also lacks focus especially on the background. There is a lot of competition going on between the two parts of the picture which makes it difficult for the eye to rest on what should be a restful scene. Maybe some sort of a polarizer would have balanced the strong lighting when you took the picture. |

This photo has a few things going for it. But as usual, there are a few things against it. As far as the challenge goes, at a low resolution setting on a monitor this shows a lot of image grain and also a lot of detail that is lost with higher resolution monitors. But at higher resolutions not only is the image grain lost, but the detail that is great at lower resolutions becomes too busy. The bottom edge of the photo appears washed out for some reason. Not sure why. A slightly different crop, like maybe 2/3's of the dam may have worked better. Could use a levels adjustment as well as a slight contrast boost to bring out the detail in the image. The rays are a boost. Overall it is a good capture. I think more detail in the crop and post processing would have made this a wow image. I also like the play on words with the title. Again, just would like to see it processed and cropped a little differently. |
