This is a great bird photo! Love the clear path in front of the bird.

Nice capture, but I find the DOF too narrow. I would have liked to see a blury yet more discernable grass above and below him. |

Great shot -- the bird has somewhere to go, but the DOF seems too shallow. You can see the strip that is in focus, and the head of the bird is outside that range. |

Baby blue jay! The dof works so well here - the clear path in the grass where the bird is looking guides both the flying lesson and the viewers eye. lovely. |

I absolutely love the tight DoF on this. The strip of grass in front of the bird is fantastic - looks like you've marked out the path it will follow. Maybe too close to the edge of frame? Dunno. I reckon it would look superb either way. 10 |

Spectacular use of DOF. This is one of the best bird shots I've ever seen, and fits the challenge perfectly. You get a 10. :) Great shot. |

Cute little bird! Placement works very well here, suggesting the bird can "go" somewhere in the frame, while also suggesting that this is just part of a larger picture or environment. Depth of field may be just a little narrow, as it appears its head is just out of focus. |

Having looked at all the images now, I have to say that this is one of my favorites in this competition! I love how the unused space is actually part of a story being told by the photo. The DOF adds interest too, makes it look like a runway for the little bird. Well done! |
