Greetings from the Critique Club...
Hi Funnylooks...
I read your bio on your profile before I started this critique to get a little insight into your interests. First of all, I must apologize for not being a good source of critique on an image of this nature. It's a bit outside of my own style and philosophies. I think the concept here is worthwhile but it may need a little refinement to achieve a photo that you, as well as the general public, will find intriguing on a higher level. I think as far as DPChallenge is concerned, the highlights caught by the light source and the plastic bag may be one of the primary reasons this image didn't score higher. "Conceptual" photography is a tough arena when you are being judged by a very diverse demographic. In your circles of friend on a college campus, this photo would likely have acheived a much higher rating. It would be more in tune with the pop art and culture that thrives in those groups. Everyone around here talks about 'getting outside the box' in thinking and preparation for challenges, but I really don't think that being outside the box is the answer for this type of contest in most cases. With the number and diversity of people here, I believe that simple and straightforward images will outperform others in most cases. Any image that requires more than a few seconds of viewing and thought will get tossed aside during a vote.
I wish you well in your photogrpahy and look forward to seeing more in the future :)
John Setzler

I scored this an 8. It has a certain air about it that screams artistic angst (and I love that kinda stuff!). Surprised this didn't finish higher actually, but congrats on your second highest score. I look forward to seeing more and more of your very promising work! :-) |

Returning for comments:
An effect well done to lend it an artistic bent, hence the beauty of the composition. |

Interesting idea but shame we can't see more of the eye...the focal point of the image |

This is a shot where I ask, "what is the saran adding to the picture?" I think her pose was a great portrait capture, but the plastic, required to meet the challenge, isn't helping. Would have liked to see this in another challenge...6 |

There is a ridge in the plastic that crosses the eye and, with the reflected light, the eye is a little too obscured. I really feel that this would be stronger with the eye more visible. |

Interesting photo. My favorite part is around her nose and mouth - I think that's because there aren't any harsh highlights in that area. |

I think I would have tried the lighting in a different way.. its so reflective its almost distracting.. but I really like the image... just wish i could see more of the model and less of the catchlights.. (in this case) |

This has a creepy sense to it. I like the wrinkles of the plastic catching the light. Nicely composed!! |
