very stark - the red & white works well

I really like the saturated reds going down the mddle of the road. It draws your attention so you can find the runner. Also, I like the way the right side is washed out, becasue it looks he/she is running into nothingness. Having said that, I wish the shadows had been a bit more dramatic.

I like this shot alot!

I wish the photo didn't fade out to white so much in the back....but the brilliant colors of the markers with the yellow objects in the distance are a nice contrast.

I like this :). Interesting overexposure effect. Only the things in shade exist. It's the way I feel on a really bright, glary day.

Interesting effect, looks like a colorized movie still. The whole left side is washed out, I probably would have given you a much better score if you would have cropped it out, as the right side is much more viewable. Photo 3 Creativity 5 Shadows 4 total 4

i think this would be better if she were in the sun running for shade. the background is too blown out - compose and meter the scene that you're going to shoot.

The top left corner of this image is overly bright on my screen, and the whole image seems tilted slightly left.

to washed out, light to bright

Cool shot though I seriously don't understand how you were able to pull it off. Reminds me of the Nike commercial.

Isn't she already in the shade? The washout down the street is really distracting...doesn't add anything to the photo for me. The red and white 'cones' would make for an interesting photo.

holy overexposure batman! Nice effect, but perhaps in the wrong photo

Looks faded too busy

I see the shadows in this photo, yet they are not adding anything interesting or special to the overall impact of the image... The left half of this image is also quite over exposed... With 'shadows' being the subject of this challenge, I feel that the shadows should be playing some definite role in the image...

Can't decide if I like the overexposure
06/17/2002 02:56:00 PM
It has a shadow and it has a subject, but a very loose connection with the challenge. I like the angle for the composition, but am not so sure about the washed out look. It does force one's attention directly to the subject, which is very good. I think that this would have worked well for on the road, but I'm just not sure about the shadow.

looks like she's running for a hotdog to me.
06/17/2002 01:03:00 PM
Left hand side is way over exposed. This might have been deliberate but I think it's just too much.
06/17/2002 12:07:00 PM
Before clicking, I run through a mental checklist, one item being 'Am I holding the camera straight?'
06/17/2002 10:27:00 AM
The background is WAY over exposed and detracts from the overall photo.
