Ok "FIRE!!" is what I would consider and excellent example of Depth of Field. I think voters in this challenge were just looking for something dramatic, like some one jump off a bloody bridge. I think the photo you have taken is excellent. Personally I like the image and what it states. I think you did an excellent job with the focus and allowing the background to fade away but still leave the bright colored background. Personally I don't see anything I would change at all. Maybe if we had a history or revolution challenge, it would have faired better. |

This is very nice, Ray. It's so clear and well taken. It also suits the challenge very well without being violent or sickening. I really like how the canon has that understated gleam. The blurred background really makes the canon stand out. Great Job! |

I of course don't know (I'm no photoshop expert!) But... it looks like the sharpening went perfectly except on the left of the rim. I would have undone this with the history brush.
If that's not what happened, well then I just don't like the white halo around that part... :0)
7- because other than that it's lovely. |

Without the title to clue me in it would have taken me awhile to figure out what this is. If you had stuck a candle wick or something in as the fuse and photographed this head-on with the DoF centered on the fuse this would have been a much stronger entry in this challenge.
