 I liked the 'pinball' effect of the trees & shadows ricocheting the viewer's gaze through the zig-zag valley. In retrospect, I don't like much else, though.

Shows my few DPC friends where I live (well, it's very close to where I live).

There is something very painterly about this. I love the fact that the grass is brighter than the sky. I love that the hills are in the shadows. And I love that the trees in the foreground manage both to work as framing elements and as vital parts of the photo rich in color and texture. It is a fine shot, totally deserving of a high rating & ranking.

Paul, I guess it wasn't that bad was it..you made top 30! congratulations...but you know me: how did it look in b&w? I like the shadows and the pinball effect of the trees and diagonals of the hills..the area where you live is lovely.

What lovely lighting! I like the dark sky yet the bright sun on the ground. The two big trees framing the scene are very nice.

Wow. Great depth of field, but I son't think the tree trunk in the right front really adds much to the composition. It overwhelms the house in the valley.

8 - Very nice scene. One that is easy to imagine as a painting. Criticism; to really nit-pick, those 2 extra pixels would have made a difference (this is only 638). Perhaps a slightly different 'choice' of crop (if possible), not sure. Colors tweaked slightly to get them a little richer, may have also made this better in my opinion, however I am sure that is difficult with the shadows and color of the house/shed, and the 'blow out' issues that would result.
