This really is an impressive image. I've seen very few sevens and eights that can compare. I definitely give it a 9 plus. All the different textures really come out to create a strange and twisted image. Almost doesn't seem like earth - except that I saw the place you took it. Crazy Cool!

this is great i like the effect. why did it score so low?

I'm curious as to how this photo was taken without violating any rules.

This picture really scares me! But very nicely done.

Wow. Very heavily processed, but to excellent effect. Great job!

Wonderful creativity. I think your effect, which I'm interested in reading about post-voting, really helps capture a desolate mood. While I hope I'm wrong, I fear that you'll be smashed to bits here, though... :-/

This looks a little overprossesed, but i think it makes the image fantastic.

Different... I like it. I assume the graininess was intentional, but seems a little too much.

I reckon this would have been very cool without the effect here!

Love the graininess and the light. Coloration is great. 10

Interesting twist on a lanscape for this challenge. Use of grain to emphasize the desolation of the scene is a good idea that works well. There is a bend toward smooth neat imaged landscapes to do well so expect some voters to give this a lowere score. They will view the grain as coverup for a poor quality image. The light haloing around the big tree at left of center is a big of a distraction in this fine concept.

Interesting effect with the grain. I think I like it.

I like the mood or lack of mood you created in editing. Is this just basic editing? i

Interesting. Looks like an album/CD cover. Nicely titled.

This looks like a sci-fi version of earth after WW III. A definite contrast to all the beautiful shots, yet it meets the challenge and is well done. 6 for now, but will be taking a second look later.

Extreme noise, extreme artifacts, but somehow it seems to fit the scene. I like the effect. It is weird, it is strange but it is also pretty cool art-wise. :)

I'm not a big fan of the grunge, grain thing. Looks like this is a solid image anyway 6

My idea of a landscape photo is one that captures the natural environment. Some editing is fine!! I just feel that this is a bit much. I would really like to see unedited, a little more "aunatural".

I like where you were headed. It's kind of Dali-like. But I think the execution needs to be a bit better.

Lookes like it had the potential to be a very interesting shot if it weren't for the low image quality creating that wierd pattern (most visible in the sky).

?

I presume that the noise was added in Post-processing. I think that it may be a better picture without it.

sad picture

The grain effect for this picture turned something that would have been a 4 for me into an above average shot. I give you a 6. Great slection of texture on this one. It really works!

Interesting idea in post processing, however the sky has a weird noise pattern that is distracting.

Nice picture, art, spooky but also top blue band without much structure, draws a lot of attention without contents

How did you get the sky to look like that? great composition.

6 - Mainly for the potential. Criticism; like perhaps a few others are saying, and I realize you were likely going for this 'look/feel', but the grain/noise(?) added just does not complement this shot in my opinion. The texture in the dried/cracked mud and the dead trees, coupled with the 'contrary' water nearby, would have made for a great shot. Same goes for the colors. Compositionally, I think a slightly different crop, especially bottom left where that partial shadow is, incorporated or excluded, would have made this better in my opinion. Possibly also more of a horizontal 'framing', showing the more flat and expansive type landscape. Was your call though, not mine, but if this were 'clean', possibly an 8. Not sure if the frame helps.
