I didn't look at the other comments before leaving my own. The first thing that grabs me is the composition. This picture has 3 parts: grass, hay bale, tree/sky. I think the grass should own less of the picture. The flat on positioning is perhaps a bit uninspired as well. Maybe shooting a little more "down the line"?
Finally there appears to be quite a bit needed in the post-processing department. A quick look at the levels in PS shows me you could have had brighter whites. I liked it better by doing this and making the blacks darker (in other words, more contrast). I think the picture looks like you used USM to poor effect. The thin lines of the grass and hay got overemphasized. If you didn't use USM then it may have been the sharpening your camera did on its own.
I'm surprised you didn't get an 1 or 2 scores. The DNMC crew could have hit you as this is "out of the box". |

I don't get the impression of a dead end.
color flat, gret texture, lighting flat, noise overwhelming with this idea, nice lines, comp ok |

I think a different angle or lighting would add some interest. |

I don't see how this meets the dead end challenge but it is your interpretation. I think the composition could have been better and the color is dull. |
