Ragnarök, old Norse for "Doom of the Gods", from Scandinavian mythology. It is an 'armageddon' like period of time, the end of the cosmos. And preceding this will be the winter of winters. A really cool story, well worth the read IMO. My wife, Sheila actually suggested that for the title when I showed her the photo, and I enthusiastically agreed.
I have been seeking out these dark, brooding shots lately, and I really like this one. I have several actually from the same time frame. Must be the mood I've been in :-) I realize that this is an image that probably won't cater to a lot of tastes, but if a couple folks dig it, I'm happy. I think it's a love it or hate it type thing, and I'm sure the scores will reflect that :-)
Reasons I like the image, well, obviously the feel of it. I am going for strong tones. I think it is fairly strong compositionally, I would definitely say it is a landscape, albeit not a typical one, but it is land :-) I tried to incorporate a foreground element (the weeds in the bottom) and distant element of the treeline and prominent tree top center, with the weight of the middleground (the field itself) tying it all together. The expanse of the field and the tones lead the viewer to the tree, framed against the stark sky, serving as the dominant focal point. At least, that's how I see it :-) You the viewer could see a totally boring hodge podge of crap, and you could very well be correct! hehehe
Anyways, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! In ps-cropped, resized, usm, tri-tone, levels adj., curves adj., another slight levels adj, final light usm, added border.
Hopefully, you are one that liked it, if not, that's cool, I understand :-)
