I know I'm going to have to validate this one, lol.

It looks really complicated, but it was actually really easy. All I did was buy a clip art cd and use an image of the earth from it. I put it in photoshop and used the smudge tool to make it look like the glass part of a lightbulb. Then I broke a real lightbulb so I just had the metal base. Then I put the Earth image on my computer screen and held the metal base in front of it. Had my camera on a tripod, and a single light coming from above the computer screen.

Post processing...I know some people are going to complain about the ammount of dodging and burning on the hand. But I really wanted it to look like the bulb was luminous, so to do that I made the hand look like it was being lit by the lightbulb. Other than the dodging and burning on the hand and around the edges of the bulb...the other PP were:

Saturation
Brightness
Contrast
Neat Image
A lil bit of USM
Re-size

Hmm... now where have I seen this before? ;-)

The hand lacks detail and seems a little too blue for the bulb, but the illusion is effective and well-composed. Good job.

Looks like something that was already done, but with the moon.

Have seen dozens of light bulb photos, none quite this clever. Great lighting on the hand. A nice added bonus that really helps the overall image. Good work!

I think this is technically well done but loses a good deal of impact for me because it's so similar to Scalvert's entry.

déjà-vu from a surrealism challenge, no ? it woudl be cool had you had start or meteroites or whatno somewhere around, but that were illuminated by the lightbulb...

I like this, though it looks an awful lot like Shannon's Surrealism blue ribbon entry.

Good dupe of: //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=154133

I don't like the color on the hand as much but the Earth inside is great!

A different take on Shannon's work, huh? Nice job! Very convincing. Can't wait to read how you did it! Great work!

7 - Good. Criticism; not sure on the blue hand, works, but may be competing too much with the bulb in my opinion, but perhaps that is what you were going for. Also, not sure on the grain effect on the hand, again, works, and is unusual, but 'softer' 'feel' may have complemented the 'feel' of the bulb/globe better, not sure. Also, given the 'composition', I think that perhaps utilizing 640 in height too, perhaps with more 'empty space' around the globe, may also have helped this shot even more.

looks cool with the earth instead of the original with the moon in. Good matching of the lighting with the hand. But its all a bit soft and lacks some detail.

Ah, deja vu! Nice attempt to emulate scalvert's ribbon. I'd love to see the hand in a more natural color than this one, whic is too cold.
