Milkweed pods opening up in various stages and a free flying "fuzzy". All shot in a state park about 1 1/2 hrs from my home. I took a lot of shots on Thursday, and came home and looked to see if any worked for the challenge.
I decided to do the triptych, but wasn't happy with it because although the photos were really nice, I felt it needed some sort of story or sequencing. I thought "If only I had taken one free from the pod..."
As it happened, I knew I would be driving past there again on Saturday, so I not only stopped to take a few more shots, I also brought two pods home with me just in case I wanted to reshoot a portion.
I really debated between the color and bw versions. I like them both. I'm not happy with the way the quality shows up in this size...especially with the fine detail of the silky seeds. I hope it does well, and I am really happy with the full size results.
EDITING: Crop, levels, slight saturation boost, cloning out a fine thread in the third photo, and a bit of distracting fuzz that showed up against the dark tree in the background. Cloned out a bit of distracting fuzz at the very top of the first photo.
Put each photo on a white canvas. Stroked a brown border around each photo. Flattened, cropped entire image. Resized in steps down to the 640 max. Unsharp mask. EDIT: decided to come back and add just a touch of diffuse glow to enhance the softness of the fuzzies. |

I definitely like the one on the right the best. The other two are hard for me to tell what they are without looking at the description. There also seems to be a darker "haze" of some sort on the lower right corner of the left picture that would be better eliminated. |

I think it's not bad. I like the right panel the best and the left the worst. The left either looks oversharp or overexposed. |

Nice progression. I like how the outer two are against the sky while the center is against the grass. Really ties the outer two together. Good Luck |

These seedpod thingys always fascinate me (they dont grow where i grew up). I love the capture of the third. And that magnificant blue sky deserves a point of it's very own!! |

Fit Challenge Criteria: 2/2
Contrast/Color: 2/2
Composition: 2/2
Photo Quality: 1/2
My Subjective Affinity: 1/2
Not sure what it is, but you did a good job of tying all three frames in together. The middle and right frames seem a bit blown out in the white on my monitor though. |
