CRITIQUE CLUB CRITIQUE

(I am beginning to feel like your personal critiquer!! :-P)

I think this shot does an excellent job of showing "at work" in a creative and technically adept way. The composition works well because the arms lead into the shot to the sander/stripper, and the cord of the stripper presents a nice contrasting angle to it. The focus looks good as the details are visible, and nothing seems extremely blown out. The black and white works well, perhaps because it makes the picture simpler. In color, it could seem distracting, or even "clash" with the different colors present.

It is a well executed picture, and a good subject, but after looking at it for a while and studying it, I think I finally figured out what kept it from really standing out for me. It wasn't noticeable at first, and as I said, I had to study a while to figure it out, but the shadows around the arms bother me. Overall, the lighting is good, but if you could have shot it without having those shadows, I think it would have made this picture even better.

Best to you in future challenges!

I like your framing but not your frame

Here's a refreshingly nice entry for this week. I like the wood grain detail you've captured, your subject is in focus and the composition drives home the feeling that someone is working.

I like the framing of this shot, but the multitude of bordesr is a little distracting. I think the B&W fits your composition.

I think a little different cropping and perhaps a sharper less contrasty image would greatly improve this
