Challenge: The Letter B (Classic Editing)
Camera: Olympus C-3020Z
Location: Florida
Date: Jun 24, 2003
Galleries: Animals, Macro
Date Uploaded: Jun 24, 2003

While standing in my yard this morning, trying to come up with a letter "B" photo, this "B"ug Eyed critter crawled up my ankle. Actually this 1" critter turns into a beautiful black sugarbush swailtail "B"utterfly. I used a macro setting and did some cropping and levels adjustment, added a border for the final touch.

These are cool caterpillars. Great portrayal of color in this one. I'm not crazy about the lighting, it looks a little flat like this was taken with flash maybe. Awesome capture and exceptional pictue quality. 9

IS THAT REAL!?!?!

It looks as though your flash has washed away a lot of detail. I have been told to help this you can cover the flash with tissue paper to difuse and subdue it. Good capture otherwise. 6

I have never seen any bug like this one. Wild... Great photo!

Excellent macro shot - great colours and clarity. If I was going to be picky, the blade of grass to the left of the bug is a little distracting as it cuts off its front legs and because of that your eyes are drawn to it, which then isn't in focus

I think there's a big difference between you and me. You saw this and grabbed your camera... If I had seen it, I would have taken up sprinting :) Quite an interesting find! The lighting seems a wee bit harsh, but it's certainly an interesting shot!

good example of where a tilt works well. Nice shot. (would actually be good in a biology textbook for deceptive colouring)
