Challenge: Adulthood Without Adults (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Minolta DiMAGE A2
Location: NYC
Date: Nov 27, 2005
Date Uploaded: Nov 27, 2005

Just wanted to leave a comment after the challenge in response to all the does not meet the challenge comments I received.

Perhaps I have a different idea of what an adult is than most people. Sure, I didn't use a child, I used a young adult, but to me a person is not really an adult until they are legally one at the age of 18.

I was trying to show how younger people grow up too fast. This girl was alone along central park early on Sunday morning, clearly coming home from somewhere and she seemed very lonely and nervous and cold and young despite the way she was trying to dress.

She was not an adult and there are no adults in the photograph.

i love the read the title comments - because if they had read *your* title, it would be apparent that she was a teen playing (as so many teens do) an adult.
|This deservd dfar better than a 5.2 on techincal merrit alone.

Love the perspective on this shot & the way the leaves are cleared away just ahead her area. THIS is the kind of photography that moves me and most want to do.
For sure something I would be proud to call my own.

What was this under-rated. Great tones and feeling. A 5.2? I don't think so. I would have given it an 8 at least if I had voted.

This image impressed me and I attributed to a senior mature hand in the art of photography. Perhaps not fitting this challenge like a glove, the voters follow their whims. However, when we try to give the voters more they often refuse to pause and see the extra goodies. This is a 10 on the technical and compositional realm.

I'm really drawn into this shot. I really like your even tones and I'm really impressed how you've captured a seemingly nature vignette with the darker tones around the sides of the frame to pull the viewers eyes to focus on your beautiful model. Nicely done.

I like this shot, nice job on the b/w conversion, great tones in it and the composition and DOF is pretty good. Would have given this a good score but it just is so completely off topic that I ended up giving it a 3.

Great feel to the photo. The challenge says no adults, but I like the composition and subject so ... 7

She doesn't look happy about having her picture taken. Looks quite afraid and/or angry. :) Suspicious, maybe? I love the tones used, the lighting.well done. 8

Beautiful image! I like how the light is on the girl and the trees to the left of her, but the trees/people in background are darker. Lovely composition, so balanced, and a very good fit for the challenge. My favourite. ~10

Sorry, but it is supposed to be WITHOUT adults. I like the lighting and the mood, but I don't get a sense of moving too fast.

crop this down to just her and the trees and it's much stronger IMO. The right third of the photo only distracts - it's beautiful lighting and post processing - 7

The first image to truly show the transition of this challenge. But the subject appears to have already reached adulthood... deserves a good score for the image alone...8
