*** Greetings from the Critique Club ***

Commitment -- pretty original idea, and a great representation of the word through photography.

I find the overall subject and idea very appealing. 5.7 is a good score, congratulations.

As far as the photo itself, I think your composition is good. Your subject placement is great and the curvature to the out of focus background with the change in shade definately adds another perspective to this shot.

I am not sure if you used a tripod here or not, but for 1/8 of a second, it would be highly recommended. The shot is either a tad bit out of focus or it's camera shake, it's hard to tell without knowing for sure of your setup.

That being said, I think your white balance is a bit off. It appears you exposed under tungsten lighting conditions...while your camera tried to adjust for it, it just couldn't tell exactly what was going on...but that's not that big of an issue.

I think another point to be made is your lighting. No doubt it was dim lighting from your 1/8 sec. exposure time. I think you could stand to bump that up a notch either with a flash/flashes or a higher powered bulb.

--

Either way, great photo that stood its ground on originality and composition. Like I said, I think it's an excellent photo and if you had a bit more time to work on it, this one could definately jump out and grab the viewer and pull him into a tack sharp, nicely lit photo...keep shooting!

now that is adulthood. responsibility and dedication, commitment, all in two little rings. and kid can go out an have sex with anyone, but getting married (and meaning it) takes real maturity.

good link to the theme. I like the curve in the background; it adds some dynamism and I think it helps draw the eye to the rings.

7 - Like this, nice composition and lighting. Criticism; Although it looks like you've gone for a 'soft look/feel' to this, I think if either the stone or pattern on the ring were in sharper focus, or a variation in lighting, may have made this even better in my opinion.

Simple and a well done. It does seem a tad out of focus but to me that adds a soothing and ethereal feeling to this shot. Well done.

Good job - good idea, nice lines & curves. My only critique would be that the rings are a litlte out of focus.

Nice lighting, like the color choice of bg to accent the diamond and the use of the curve. Good luck on these symbols of adulthood. -8-

Like the placement. I imagine you were going for a soft look, but I don't think it works here. The right side of the setting makes it just look out of focus and blurry rather than soft. I have personally never tried for the soft feel so I don't have any suggestions on how to better achieve it, but I'm sure others will. Good Luck!

Nice imagery... the focus seems a little of and the line through the middle of the background is a bit distracting.
