This was the end of a spectacular day, hilltops above a thick fog. As the sun was setting the fog parted briefly showing Standish church with its surrounding trees. A couple of minutes later the church had disappeared again.

Cloned out a small light from a house plus a couple of trees in the bottom of the shot, slight sat increase.

Wow, twenty comments! Thank you to all those who commented, they are all appreciated. A few of the comments mentioned the composition, the fact it was too centered. I did try various crops, but felt this was the best composition to show how isolated the church looked, poking up through the fog.

I think I know what you were going for, but the shot is too centered. Moving the "sanctuary" higher in the frame would help make it feel further away and more like a safe haven. I also think it is a little dark.

Dreamy, beautiful. My only suggestion would be not to center the trees and steeple quite as much. More sky maybe.

the composition could have been better

A very interesting capture that invokes imagery of a magical and mysterious place that is ensrouded in fog. I love how you see just a smattering of trees through this heavy pinkish/blueish tinged fog. Colors tend to make me think of watercolors. In fact this photograph could almost pass for a painting. Very nice capture.

Wonderful. wow... really beautiful. I can't help feeling the steeple (assuming its a church I guess) is a little, eh... not vertical... life could def. be worse though. one of my favorites.

Perfect title. I might crop out a tad of the area to the right so the steeple is even less centered.

7 - Very nice. Criticism; I'm sure the size doesn't do this justice, but (and especially at this size) more detail/contrast with the trees and steeple(?) would have made this better in my opinion. Like the centered composition and think that cropped tighter top or bottom would also likely yield two good shots with slightly different 'feels' too. Just like to see it 'pop' more, as subtle as the scene/theme is.

This looks exactly like what I saw when I was shooting the swans. Would have loved to get one like this. Nice.

Are the clouds for real, the trees and steeple would have to be tall.
