Great shot here dude. The bee is hard to decipher due to the fact that it's almost black lacking some midtones. I wonder if a selective highlight and shadow would work in this instance?

I too like this photo very much, but IMO, the black "halo" around some of the petals is very distracting. I once had luck with getting rid of that by cloning it out, took lots of time, but may be worth it!

In this image the petals stand out so strongly I really don't care to see the bee. The detail and depth in the petals is mesmerizing. For me, the bee blends into the center (love the hues). Also really like the DOF. Love the B&W treatment.

The composition of the layout and the color/BW are both great.
Could you tell me how did you do the partial desaturation and the this frame?

In photoshop I desaturated the image using a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. I then created a mask on the Hue/Saturation layer. Using a soft brush (hardness=0) on the mask I brought the color back by just brushing over the bee and flower areas.

I also used several level/curves layers to adjust the contrast and selective color to tweak the color a bit. I hope that answers your question. If not let me know. Oh and thanks for the comments.
