Crashed June 13, 1944. Located on a rock slope facing north on a knoll just east of the Flowers Trail. Altitude is about 10,750' This wreck was demolished by the Army with dynamite 6 weeks after the wreck. Lots of small pieces. Engines, gear, wingtips and the top turret cage survive.  This is a shot of some landing gear and structural components. All-day round-trip hike. Plan for 3 hours walking each way. And a very strenuous hike at that! Almost 3000 vertical feet ascent and descent total over the total 12 miles in and out. More info here Crown Point B-17 on survivors and casualties.

Stark B/W works well for this image. By presenting the wreckage in the foreground, and having the trees in the background, you imply that nature is slowly claiming this old plane! 9

I think this is a little overexposed, especially on the left side of the picture. The sepia tone gives it a surreal and spooky feel to it.
