Spedometer of my new Mazda Protege5. Decided to keep the grainy effect of the background vs the dial hand. Very little PS: levels, desaturation of all but red, slight crop, resize and border.

Not much of a shot, and probably not very original, but conveys the challenge topic. My other ideas did not pan out.

even though its a speedometer, i don't get the sense of speed that i get from other pictures in this challenge. nothing is moving. outside of the challenge, the composition of the picture could be improved by having the dial more centered. the left side is not showing as much as the right.

I don't think a tight crop suits this image. Your needle draws your eye towards the end of the red bit which is cut off in your frame.

Shouldn't have cut off so much around the edges. Good and tight crop, but a bit too much. If we're on zero, how come we went 3.5 miles?

You're 3.5 miles into the trip and still no excitement? You better get moving!

Nice shine on the needle itself.
Find the LCD readout distracting though.

This is good idea, however to depict speed I would have taken the pic whilst the speedometer was not on zero but actually but moving! Otherwise a good pic, the graininess works and the dropping is fitting - 8.

Nice close up. I might have tried taking some of the intensity out of the red - but for impact, it works as is.

Aww, I was disappointed when I saw the large "km/h", I don't know of any cars that extend to 220 mph. My speedometer goes somewhere around 140 mph, never been there, but definitely potential. Nice idea, maybe some motion in the gauge would work too, but then again, it'd be hard to take the pic while driving.

Nice idea, but would have liked to see the needle moving - to show some speed. Of course, this could be dangerous :-) Perhaps the tachometer instead?

OK so show me the speedo on 120mph and I'll be impressed. :) Great shot of the speedo however.
