I'm in a B&W mood and like it how the bright spot in the wall coincides with the section of the wall that is in focus. This is partly caused by the way the wall is in real life and partly because of lens vignetting.
I chose f/1.4 because I remembered a portrait where a young lady stands next to a brick wall. Only her face and a small section of the wall are in focus. Wanted to use that for the shallow dof challenge, but no girl no photo.
The wall is yellow/orange red. The black stones are the most red stones. They turn black because I used a channel mix to monochrome with a negative red value.
Nothing spectacular.
Editing:
- Nikon Capture 4.4: Color mode to Adobe RGB, Tone compensation to High Contrast, whitebalance to 5500k
- no cropping
- PS6: Channel mixer (color balance), curves, channel mixer (to monochrome R -50, G +100, B +60), curves, contrast +9, resampeled, USM in Lab Mode 180%, 0.3px

Simple, yet grasping. Nice portrayal of something that would normally seem so trivial |

Nice pic, but I think in a case like this, the dof should be changed so the the whole wall is in focus. |

Very nice...wonderful tonality and the texture is so pleasing. The shallow DOF really enhances this picture...very nice. |

7 - Nice. Toning is good. Criticism; crop variation, to 'cut' that bottom right 'dark' area would have made this better in my opinion. |

Nice simple pattern and texture. I'd like focus on the entire image, however, and the triangle of black at the bottom right corner should be cropped out. |
