Three flash guns, two for the background, the third bounced off the celing to provide some front lighting. Pewter pitcher, filled to the brim with water, suspended from a frame using visible string, glass containing magenta ink, on top of upended glasss. Poured more water in picher using turkey baster, and fired flash using remote when the flow looked about right. Took several attempts. Convert from RAW using Capture One, increasing the exposure by nearly 2 stops, CS2 processing: reduce lightness of red and magenta, curves to improve the contrast a bit, crop, USM, resize, save for web, USM. I would have liked to have removed the string - but basic rules only. . .

Good idea, the next time try to use another kind of light source and please use a thinner thread.

That string kind of ruins the magic of this shot. Perhaps something like fishing line would have been less noticable.

Great shot, but I would have used fishing line to hold the pitcher.

I think a hand would have been better than the string.

it would be cool if there was no string........

If you used some fishing line instead... (the transparent kind) it would have been more impressive. Very nice indeed. After the challenge, why don't you try cloning that rope out and show us all what it would look like then?

Nice and clean but.. it lacks punch. I am not experienced enough to give you any real hints, all I can say that something is missing. 6.

Too bad you were not allowed to clone that string out :)

I like the photo and the colors but the string holding the object up is really distracting, might have tried some monofilimant fishing line so it would blend better, otherwise its a great photo. 6

Nice shot, but it could be better without the thread.

I think it would looked much better and more "natural" to have someone hold the jug rather than have the bit of string... i suppose in an advanced editing challenge you could have removed it and that would probably be the best picture you could make this. 4

I wish that the thread was invisible.

All you need now is thinner wire, good idea

I would have much more preferred a hand tipping the pitcher than a string. I find that extremely distracting. I would have scored this higher except for the string. I'm not trying to be mean, just truthful.

Not so sure about the string holding the vase... does bring kinda a comical feel to the photo though :) Was the first thing my eyes saw though besides the shape
