Boy is this a horrible picture!
01/22/2006 10:16:13 AM
Good composition excellent layout, good subject, and color balance fits the challenge well. Do no get discouraged the cannon A 400 that you are using is capable of great shots. What it looks like happened, with this great shot was the resolution was set in the camera was on the low side and when you cropped photo it pixelated causing what you see here. Try shooting at 1600 x 1200 the upper range of your camera. This may mean less pictures on your memory card however, it will allow you to crop closer with out the pixelation.

Horrendous image quality.. looks like it's been resized from 320 to 640. Would have gotten a much higher score from me if the image quality had been good.

interesting, though I think the resolution can be improved

Grainy can be good. Too much grainy; not so good.

Interesting subject. I think focusing in on the woman would have been the best composition. Something is going on though with your camera or processing--it's too pixelated. Could it be an extreme crop, or perhaps too much jpeg compression. Post in the forums if you need help after the challenge.

I like the idea but the image is of poor quality.

I like the idea but the picture didn't turn out the best.

i guess it might not be very appropriate to assume that the man on the left is "rich". The composition could be improved upon as well.

the large pixels are distracting to me. sorry

01/09/2006 06:04:01 PM
poor resolution hurts this shot. i don't see which in this you would consider "rich" and which you would consider "poor."

This doesn't really impress me as a city. Also, I can see pixelations.

01/09/2006 05:54:07 PM
A bit too pixelated, not sure what you did. Would have scored much higher if it were not for that.

01/09/2006 05:14:01 PM
Theres quite alot of technically bad qualities and I cant see much of a photographic or artistical idea behind it. With well-thought cropping I would assume this would get better grade from me.

You have mosaic-camera? Sell it to me!

Your sharpening has gone way too far. What a pity, I like the imagery

01/08/2006 09:41:17 PM
oh, would be so much better when you figure out how to resize the pic properly.

OK highly pixleated but i would have cropped from the tree to the woman

What have you done to this image, as all the pixels seem to be all over the place, or is it my eye site playing up.....Such a shame.

01/07/2006 06:56:48 PM
i like this picture but why the bad quality?
  Photographer found comment helpful.
01/07/2006 01:31:50 PM
Why does it look all "pixely"? Also, it's a pretty good idea, but the "rich" doesn't look terribly rich (unless you were trying to say that), and his positioning, at the very edge of the left side of the frame, is simply awkward.

I love the idea of showing the contrast between rich & poor-- definitely a common occurance in city life. However, the blockiness of the image distracts from the subject.

nice color but too pixelated on my monitor

This has great potential. Unfortunately it's really pixelated from my end. (6)

there is an incredible amount of pixelation here. not to mention that the contrast between rich and poor is not shown clearly...

Nice shot but really grainy and unfocused seeming, maybe a result of reducing the image size

Too pixelated.

Really digitized. The pixels seem to be too large for this image. Maybe when you were saving it, you put the resolution to low. Try a resolution of atleast display value, which is 96. Might make the detail come closer together.

Holy cow. This is terrible. It is so grainy and pixelated. Perhaps you used digital zoom? Or maybe it was a problem in postprocessing. Sorry, you'd better double-check your images next time.

Very pixilated, especially around the ballons.

This picture is highly pixilated, which will unfortunately bring low scores. Try using more pixles if possible (not sure if this was cropped out from a larger picture). There is also a good tutorial here for resizing pictures for the web that may also help.

It´s always distracting to see a person looking out of an image..you´ve also compressed the photo too much, it´s very pixellated this way. Wonder if the woman alone wouldn´t have just made this much better.

The composition needs a little work. The choice of subject matter is ok. The image quality is a little below average. Could have been a little more creative. - 3

I won't be one of the 10000 DPCers who is telling you that the shot is pixelated. I figure you know that by now.;)

I have a feeling of title/image disconnect here. It's hard for me to obviously see Rich/Poor at the first look. Now with deeper reflection, I can see a little more dichotomy. Who's rich and who's poor. That is the question.

01/04/2006 06:30:34 PM
Wow, this is really badly pixelated. It could be an interesting shot but the image quality is really so bad as to be distracting.

I'm not sure what the very thick grain/pixelation is doing for this photo.

01/04/2006 05:20:25 PM
WOW - was this taken on a mobile phone camera. The grain and pixel size is just too much.
Good luck though

I don't know the technical term for this but the pixel squares detract from the photo

way too much grain!!!! this shot is so pixelated i cant really look beyond that

This picture is suffering from horrible JPEG compression. It probably would have been a great pic if this would have been corrected. 2

The idea is sound, I like the concept, but unfortunately the execution is lacking.

What on earth happened here? This is a horribly pixelated image. It's potentially a very nice picture too. If you don't understand how to resize images for challenges, feel free to contact me, even during the voting period if you wish.
