My heart goes out to this uncle. However, as a Marine, the thought that one of my family might protest in such a way if I were killed in Iraq or Afghanistan horrifies me. The uncle is grieving. I understand and empathize. But if his nephew was anything like most of us in the military, he would not be happy to know that his uncle was doing such a thing. Most of us military-types are diametrically-opposed to the anti-military sorts that march in rallies such as this. Don't confuse that with being politically conservative. It's a kind of exploitation.

No, what I think is lame is that there are still people who support such a corrupt administration, by the way, i don't thik any of these Bush supporters belong to the upper 1% of the population, am I wrong?...cuz if you don't and still support this administration you're as screwed as the rest of us.

to assume that the young man who sacrificed his life for you and I didn't know what he was doing is very presumptuous on your part. With all the training, tensions, protests and pro troop/war rallies, especially at a time of war, I would say that every single person who signs, knows exactly what they are signing up for.

As for the photo, it makes a statement that Chase Johnson Comley fought and died for his Uncle's right to present.

If you are concerned about what other people are saying don't be. If you want to show a side that few, if any, journalists in this day and age present, then go find a pro troop/war rally and post some photographs of that. Finding a truly neutral journalist of any kind is like finding a virgin in a whorehouse. Photojournalism should show it all and let each and every person make up there own minds.

A sad loss, albeit I do not think Bush is to blame. Rather, Chase Johnson Comley is to thank for sacrificing his life to keep me safe!

Nice statement. Like the shot and think it is very relevant to today and the world.

Some response to previous poster, it is voluntary to join but once in all decisions are made for you some time people dont fully know what they are signing up for.

Amazing that a political ideology would keep someone from sympathizing with an uncle who has lost his nephew. I think THAT is what the photo is about, as opposed to what the T-Shirt is about.

Whatever your beliefs are, this is a strong piece of photojournalism, although I'm not sure about your background at the top-left of the photo.

last time I checked, the armed forces were voluntary....

last time I checked, dying for the cause of the less fortunate and your countrymen is considered honorable...
