 While most of the U.S. is bundled up on between Christmas and New Year's Day, Miamians get to play in the water with their newly opened presents. Well, we deserve it after dealing with all those hurricanes.
Nervously, I waded out to waist deep water with my new present, a 70-200 f2.8 VR telephoto lens. It took awhile to get everything as close to right as possible: numerous kitesurfers in frame, kites on long lines low enough to be in the pic, and clouds opening up to allow the sun to illuminate the colorful buildings downtown.

I hear the theme to Miami Vice playing in my head when I look at this. d-ddd-dddd--ddd - something like that. GREAT image.

this shot is awesome, but ai! that red kite at the top is distracting. could you clone it farther down into the frame or something? it's a great picture and that kite has an important compositional function, it's just running into the border in a big bad nasty way.
