I like the picture in general; although, I think it doesn't go with the contest. The contest says "Backlighting is the idea of shining light at an object from behind, or lighting areas behind the object you want to highlight." While this definately does show a dominate source of light, it doesn't show anything that I know as a backlight. |

This is sidelighting not backlighting. Unfair!

When I look at this image, the first thing I see are the mountains and how they are lit. The mountains are lit by sunlight coming from the right, thus not being back-lit. The more I look at the image, the more I am thinking that you are considering the bare trees as being back-lit by the mountains. Maybe that is the case, but the over-riding elements of this image are the mountains. |

I love this shot but it doesnt appear as though it is backlit more so from the right. |
