This is essentially a dead bird.

Some photoshop effects help me put some sadness into it.

Yep, under-rated. I gave it a 7.

I think the saddest thing about this is the score it received. I'm sorry about that. I love this shot, the score is incredibley misleading as this is one of the most original on the site to date.

Man, nice! Open up that shadow detail just a bit though--just my opinion, but I'm wanting to see some more feather texture to go with that lovely lumber.

great pathos to this with your use of dark tones.

Brutal honesty ... I am sick of birds in every challenge (although some images are undeniably beautiful) however the last subject I want to vote on is a dead bird ... 4

How said but very realistic. Nice emotive black and white shot.

only in the minds of man, Nice capture of nature or cat kill.

Two small things...I might have dodged the highlights on the feathers to contrast the black and white more, and maybe arranged the bird so that the space between the boards was not directly vertical and in the middle of the shot..maybe at a slight angle. It's a great pic though with an interesting subject choice, good dof and focus, and high marks for thinking a little differently.
