::: Greetings from Critique Club :::
Hi, as requested, here is an indepth critique of your submission.
First Impression - the most important one:
Indeed a nice fun, colorful portrait of the wonders of youth.
Composition:
Composition is good. Very well constructed.
Subject:
Crisp, clean, very well defined.
Technical (Colour, focus, and light):
Colour is wonderful, beautiful saturation.
Focus: You have super sharp focus on the child's eyes and just brings this photo to life.
Light in this photo brings out those wonderful colors. Nice indeed.
To grow its vote?:
While I have nothing but praise so far, this is where I'm going to have to give you a bit of negative feedback. This is a wonderful portrait, but it didn't fit the challenge. Voters were looking for candid shots in crowds, as suggested by the challenge description. Yes, you could say you singled this child out, but not in the context of what was expected.
Summary:
Overall, I love this image, but not in the context of this challenge. Had I voted on this challenge, it would have scored no higher than 5 or 6. Had I voted for it in a portrait challenge or "wonders of childhood" challenge, 8-9 (even 10) easily.
Hope to see more from you soon,
Leroy |

Those look like brachiosaurs ... nice contrast between the bright colors fore- and background and the skin-tones of the child. |

"Drop your fear of candids this week and single-out a person in a crowd as your source of composition. Use minimal depth-of-field to your advantage to help isolate your subject, and as always, be creative."
While you have been creative and you have used minimal DOF to isolate your main subject you ignored the main idea which was, from my understanding, to take a candid in a crowd. I few toys isn't what I would call a crowd and it is debatable whether this is a candid rather than a posed shot. |

a semi-copout on the challenge but who cares when you create such a beautiful picture! This reminds me of my excitement over dinosaurs at that age. 8. |

Nice portrait. The OOF subjects did not render very pleasantly in this shot. Otherwise I would have given it full marks. |

This is a good picture, but, IMHO, not for this challenge. You are supposed to single the subject out from a crowd. I'm afraid I don't see the crowd. |

The challenge asked for a person to be singled out in a crowd. He's kind of on his own but I think the dinosaurs might qualify as a crowd :) Nice shallow DOF and light too. |

The DOF is good but I don't see him being singled out of a crowd. I might also adjust curves a smidge. |
