I've had this idea in my head since I started looking through backlight, and didn't see anything like it really. I took a few pics with just the vase, but knew it needed some more interest, so I found the toy gecko in the bottom of the kid's toybox.
Setup: Strobe set up behind a translucent binder cover. Stuck a toy gecko into the vase with a piece of Caramel to hold it. (didn't have any sticky tac...) Stood back and zoomed in to reduce andgle of view and DOF some. Handheld.
Strobe at 1/6th-ish power, 1/1600th shutter, ISO50, and it was still a little blown in the middle, hope people can see past that.
Sharpened at 1.2/50%, resized, sharpen at .7/45% twice. Upped saturation a little. No crop or rotate, saved for web.
I chose the title because Gecko in Vase sounded drab, but spanish is so much more exotic sounding :P |

Great shot! Terrific comp. (So funny that you used a toy lizard - I've done the same thing myself! HA) Great idea and well executed. |

Neat except for the rather harsh hot spot (light bulb I assume). BOL 6 |

Although there is a bright area that normally would be distracting, it does retain detail and adds to the overall image. The color shift from the center out is nice. In addition, the angled pattern in the glass contrasts nicely with the background (hard angles against soft curves bordered by hard curves). The bottom edge of the image seems a bit weak. 9 |

Oversharpened but still not quite sharp enough. (Hard aint it!)
Love the colors - and it IS a great idea. ;) |
