Went down to a small pond on my property and waited some 4 hours for one of these guys to present itself for a nice photo. Did some edits to a few hot spots create by th flash.

branch across the pic is a bit distracting. also, seems subject is a little soft. a tricky picture - i'm sure these critters don't hand around for too long..

Is the newt an amphibian or reptile ("wildlife should be considered non-domesticated mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians ...")? Benefit of the doubt to you.

The line across the picture is distracting - a different crop would make this a better picture, I think.

I like how you captured the effect of the water around the newt. The grass in the foreground is distracting.

Cute newt but I think a different angle to eliminate that white blurry thing in the fg would have been a better composition
