 Ava fell asleep on the couch all snugled up with her hippo, I thought she looked so sweet and innocent

This is the MOST beautiful picture I have ever seen.
I have 2 children.
Can you please tell me how you did this?
It looks like you did not use the flash?
How do you create that black background effect? I'm dying to do this, but I can't get it.
