A cyclone in the north of the state caused the Avon River rapids to flow in Perth in the middle of summer (a rare event). Image is of a playboater about to get some eskimo rolling practice!

I had no intention of desaturating this image when I took the photo, but unfortunately the water was an ugly muddy orange/brown colour, which looked most unpleasant. Editing consisted of desaturation to do away with the water colour and a slight increase in saturation to the remaining colours. Small increase in sharpness, cloned out a couple of distracting reflective stickers on paddle and PFD, added border and resized. No cropping as the image was already composed as I had intended.

An incredible photo! Pure, and simple. I love the desaturation.

Great action capture, but the desaturation really ruins the effect for me

Great facial expression. Not particularly a fan of the selective desat, though.

Great action shot! Personally, I would have preferred all B/W. Nice sharp capture!

Desat here does not serve a useful purpose - not quite sure why you have used it. could have made a strong b&w.
