Since a thread on the forums about getting true black and white out of your printer, I have been messing around with tring to reproduce classic chemical B&W styles. This quadratone is supposed to aproximate silver bromide printing, the colors present are black, deep blue, gold, and burgandy.

The subject was supposed to be a rff on origin/eventuality, the old birth and death thing, but maybe I just like pinecones.

Shot in RAW straight conversion with slight depression to contrast, sent to SC2 where it was converted to greyscale, converted to quadratone, curves, squeezed in levels, then saved for web, sharpened a tad, then NI.

The composition is messy; IMO, lower left corner is the worst place you could have chosen for the cone in this frame.

I don't think the vertical orientation helps this picture. I'd go with a square-ish format. Good use of monochrome.
