Wow...thanks everyone for the fourth placing.

I wasn't going to be entering this one so here is a bit of background on this image.

I had this image in mind and one hot afternoon I noticed this gorgeous sunset start to break. Now I know that out here when the sunset starts to break I only have about 10 minutes of colour before it's all gone.

The kids were relaxing in their undies but we didn't have time to change so I bundled the three children into the car and sped out to a farm. I told the kids my plan on the way so they knew what their roles were.

We jumped out of the car and the two older ones ran up to the top of the small dam wall. I told them I would fire off a couple of test shots first before we actually did the proper shots. So the kids started mucking around.

This image is actually one of those two test shots and their relaxed pose was what drew me in. I can still see the smile on my sons face.

I did have another one in mind but I promised the children no one would see their undies so I didn't enter it....but it was soooo cute.

So considering this was a test shot I was completely surprised with the final result.

BTW...this is also my first entry with this camera...so woohoo!!

The sky here is from a freaking Science Fiction movie! ... and the kids look TOO cute. Beautiful idea and realization of same!

This is the only image in this challenge that has kids in is that I liked. I'm a sucker for silhouettes. =] The sky is beautiful! There's such a broad range of tone and color in the sky, and you've managed to capture all of it with very little overexposure. 9.

The colors in this photo are absolutely striking. The silouetted figures ad a nice contrast and the facial expression of the young girl can still barely be seen, adding a nice mood to the photograph. excellent job.

Wonderful colors, Lovely interpretation. I really like the innocent silhouette. The wisps of tall grass really dull the bright spots well on the bottom. Nicely done!

Staged or not, I love this image! Obviously, the background sunset could stand on it's own, but compositionally, the addition of the children works wonderfully. I like the low horizon in the way this was framed also. I hope people don't think you oversaturated the sky, because I've seen skies like this straight out of the camera. Bumping this to a 10.

Nice idea, good color and composition. Brighter sky would be better with more contrast for subject, compensate brightness with contrast and saturation.

great idea. the sky is obviously quite dramatic. i would have liked the silhouettes true black or with a bit more detail. he seems hesitant to her advance. Not sure if this was your original intent, but it adds a strange air of tension to the pic, that I don't believe suits it. that said...don't listen to me I'm sitting at a low 4 and this should do well.

The Sky and silhouette could each be very powerful alone. Together they overpower each other in my opinion. I would have given either a higher score. Still a contender in my opinion though. Good Luck.

The sky is really the impact of this photo. What a beautiful sunset. I do think this image would have worked 2 ways with the poses the chi;ldren are in - i can see the title being changed to nernerner and it being comedic as her pucker in silhouette looks a lot like she is leaning forward and blowing a raspberry in his face. For that reason, i wish the young man was reacting too her rather than smiling away. It is however, lovely, and will place in the top of the pack.

Spectacular sunset, the best I have seen so far in the challenge but I am only about 16 images in so far. Enough for a 7 from me and I am pretty demanding :)

Nice idea, but for me the composition lets the photo down a little.

I can appreciate that you would want to include a lot of that beautiful sky, but the focal point is the silhouettes and I think that they should have been bigger in the frame.

Good idea and nice attempt all the same, good job!
