I took this originally when I was trying to get a good "Tribute" image. The reason I am entering it in the Free Study is because there were several problems with the Tribute image, due to my not knowing how to properly save it without losing quality... so I wanted to try again. :)
I took this sitting on my floor, with the flowers taped to an upside down candle holder. A t-shirt became my background black, and I lit this with a sheet-covered flashlight. I actually took 259 shots of different flowers and at different angles.... I'm really picky, hehe. I realize this isn't the kind of image that tends to do exceptionally well, but that's okay. I'm just glad that, to me, this image is much cleaner and nicer than my last... and as long as I'm improving I'm happy. :)
The editing was:
Cropped out my couch. :D
Brightness/Contrast to get the background really dark, Cloned out a few spots on the flowers and in the background. Sharpened, Curves, little burn/dodge, save for web.

| Just a little too much negative space. Beautifully lit and tack sharp. Other than crop, very nice. |
