 YES...the background is real snow...in the original that i used for the 'best of 2005' challenge...i left an out of focus rock 'uncloned' to give the background perspective...unfortunately it happened to be directly in front of his mouth and very few who commented could 'see past' the 'hairball' to the effect i was trying to create. without the out of focus rock, i felt the background was tooooo white and looked unrealistic...i guess i have to live and learn

I still voted you a 9 even with the "hairball" and I was one who commented on it...it was distracting to me, but not enough to effect my overall feeling for the picture. I think this is a beautiful creature wonderfully captured by an obviously talented photographer. Definately adding to my favorites!
