In the midst of a roadwork hole, I saw this lovely collar - it looks like something out of a Roman archaeological excavation. I didn't know we still built them with bricks! So cool.

It's also the most blatantly 'Round' thing I shot in the week in question; I've got more interesting photographs, but thought I'd go for beating the voters over the head with the theme (I'll post one of my outtakes to my outtakes gallery).

Eloise,

This picture could have been better with a miniumum of post processing. First, a crop is definitely in order. The trash and the little bit of the work area flag in this picture are much more distracting than losing the base of the of the structure. Also, I'm not convinced of the need for color here. There are many distinct textures present, but the color feels washed out. Perhaps a bit more contrast and/or a conversion to B&W would help?

These are all things you should think about before the submission stage. Sit down and look at your picture carefully. Think about what's needed in the shot and what isn't. Setzler gave this bit of advice - go through your picture with a fine tooth comb and ask yourself "why" about each of the elements. If you can't answer that question, you need to think about if that element is really necessary.

I hope this makes sense and best of luck in future challenges!

Very interesting, like an ancient ruin. Just a little over exposed.

Crop the bottom by 10%, and rotate about half a degree counter clockwise, and this would have gained a point.

yes, it's round, and nice job getting a perspective that shows both sun and shade. sorry but it's just not that fascinating a subject, doesn't really pull on the heartstrings.

I'm not sure I'd want to drink from that fountain. Nice picture, to bad people didnt clean up after themselves when they were there(plastic bag, bottle).
