Greetings from the Critique Club
Technical elements
Technically there is very little wrong with this photo - good sharpness, good colour, good control of a difficult exposure.
Composition
I really like the composition of this shot - only partially including the person (yourself) and having them walk into the frame, away from the camera, works really well. The geometric lines of the panelling and in particular the rivets really provide an interesting, yet non distracting, background.
Border / Title
The border is the ideal colour (black) and even though it's really large I wouldn't specifically say that it is too big for this shot. The title is good.
Personal / Emotional qualities
I'm not sure if not including the head was the original plan or just something you realised once you had taken the first shot. It's ok, but I'm not sure what it's trying to convey emotionally. Personally speaking I would have liked the shot just as much if the head had been included.
Summary
It's a very good shot, and the shadow really dominates as the key element in the photo - which is perfect for the challenge. It is really difficult to say how to improve this shot - there is nothing really wrong with it at all. Good work! |

the shadow vaulting upward is a more impressive effect than the headlessness. I think I'd like it better with a head. 7. |

This is nice! Feels rather unreal somehow. I like the shadow. Looks very over powering. |

Lighting and location provide real sense of drama and surrealism. I like the lines/ pattern of the wall surface and the strange shadows at top and bottom left. I also like the capture of motion in the subject, the colour of the jacket and the hulking form of the main shadow. Altogether a great pic! |

Oh I like this alodt. The grid of the tiles and the missing head is really unexpected. Nice texture. The touch of color in the gold of the jacket is nice. |

This is interesting. I think I'd have chosen a different title. Something like "Man of Mystery". I especially like that his head is surrounded by light calling attention to it while it is not showing in the shadow. The picture is great. I rate it a 9. The change of title is just a suggestion and had no impact on my rating. I like the mysterious quality of this. |

Must have been fun standing outside the pearl last night in the pouring rain :) Anyway, nice shot, one of the better in the challenge. |
