just wanted to say: That pelican looks really fat for some reason...

Nice sharpness on the bird but not really enough motion in the bg

nice try, but i think it needs work. you need to push it just a bit further. a bit slower shutter and a bit more blur, and i think you'll have. great subject to be shooting. you might also want to get a little sharper focus (i know it's tough, but what isn't?).

Needs a slightly slower shutter speed to get more motion blur.

would have been a better motion shot if the background had been more motion blurred - like the peligan

Nice vivid colration. The bird is nicely detailed and sharp.

Sorry but not really meeting the challenge as far as I am concerned, this looks pretty much frozen in time as far as I can see with a blurred backround. Anyway, not a bad shot at all, would have given it a 7 in a "bird" challenge but in this one I could not give more than a 4... Just figured you were entitled to an explanation.

needs more blur to it a bit shartp 6

Nice sharpness on the wingfeathers.

Nice capture. Slightly slower shutter speed would be better for more motion panning blur to clearly show that you met the challenge, tough call as it makes it sharpness even more difficult, as if birding weren't hard enough!

To me this is not motion panning

Very cool shot but there is no motion blur.

Beautiful stop action on the pelican with a nice focus, however IMO the challenge to this challenge was to obtain a good background blur due to the action of following the subject with the camera, the background blur here seems to relate more to DOF issues then to motion panning

Good capture. Bird looks fairly in focus though perhaps the head is slightly less sharp - would be interesting to see larger vesion.

Great picture! But as the subject was panning, I would have use a slightly lower shutter speed.
