more construction paper and clip on lights for this one. used newspaper to build a custom snood on the light, and wiggled it during the long exposure to soften the edges of the beam. I wanted the extreme vertical lighting to emphasize the dents and the crooked bell. Not sure if this is adequately 'broken' for this challenge.

the iso 800 was a mistake...

PP was mostly neatimage and USM... also some curves & selective color to bring out the tones and colors in the coronet (it's not a trumpet). the three white specks are bugging me

not expecting a grand reception of this one... but I figure I'll learn more from submitting it than from not submitting it.

I also have a quiet hope that I will someday regain the highest-scoring image for this lens :)

post: how funny, I have a strong spike of 6 votes and yet this still finished well under 6. I don't know what to think about that, except to notice that this isn't the sort of voting curve I've ever drawn before.

Eeek, I just read back my comment. I meant the poor for the trumpet, the photo is great! :-) It was late when I commented and may be misunderstood, but it's about I like it and I feel sorry for the tumpet.

Poor one. I love trumpets. Colours are great, the greens work well with the dusty golds, and lighting is superb!

Nice idea with the lighting. I would like to see it brighter to see more detail in the instrument.

This is an interesting shot. I like what you have done. The pixelation on some of the detail might mean a little over-sharpening. Still, nice composition.

Nice lighting - makes you look twice to see what's wrong with it.

I played trumpet in HS band for awhile. This is exactly how it made me feel.

Found the lighting distracting as I like the idea behind the shot - personal taste thing I guess

Great lighting. Enough is shown to make out the instrument (trumpet?). The only comment I would make is that the white spots on the bottom are a little distracting.

That looks as though it's taken a battering....Maybe it's my monitor but image does look rather too dark

Beautiful - the colour of the metal blends in wonderfully with the green. Very subtle.
