Composite of 2 shots... One of me squeezing the heart and one of me dribbling dirt.

Running out of time to list PP - deadline approaching! Last minute entry, so I'm sure I'll pay dearly for this! LOL

Post Challenge:
WoW! Thanks for all the comments and the 7th place!!! Woo-hoo! :-)

This is actually the cardboard bottom of a heart-shaped box of candy that my Mom gave me. I created the tear with the clone brush. I shot the two shots with the same camera settings on a timer and tried to have roughly the same placement of my hand/fist/arm in front of a black backdrop. Lighting came from halogen desk lamp in front (used as spot). Combined the two shots with transparency brush. Used Mr. Contrast filter, adjusted contrast, color sat, lighting/exposure, and Aetherize filter. Had fun scrambling to get this shot to come together. Glad you liked it!!! THANKS!

great work of art. the dirt on the fingers looks a little contrived, but other than that this is worth its score and maybe a bit more. good stuff man!

Sweet editing my friend! Love the look and the seemless stitch you created! The colors are sweet and scary at the same time.

Excellent! Very well done Mr. Carter! Congrats on the placement!

This shot has so much working for it. The color balance is excellent. The subtle shades and tones that give the accents are in synch. with the overall mood. The effect is very well executed as it actually looks to be as you intended. Alignment is spot on! I like very much your subject placement within the shot and the strong contrast between the top of your arm - hard, well defined - and the bottom - fading into the background and the top of the heart - crushed, cracked - and the bottom - leaking, flowing. The amount of soil/dirt on the hand and skin is just right - much more and it would have looked messy and less would not be as strong. Now take all this and add your title and this really has impact. An extremely well put together idea! Very well done!

I like the lighting-very well done.
And the texture of the arm and hand are greay also.
I don't really like the heart it looks too 2 dimensional and it would have been nice to have seen more of the "dust(?)" flowing down.
but a good photo anyway.

Simple, effective shot that definately evokes an emotion. Looks a tad dark on my monitor at the bottom of the heart, but it could just be me. Nice job!

You've created a very powerful image. Once that's easy for the viewer to interpret. I like that about your photo. Good luck in the challenge.

yes yes yes. great lighting. sad and/or symbolic. hope people don't say "Too dark". I get that sometimes even though the shot isn't dark.

What a great concept, and beautiful tones on the skin. Nice composition & very strong image. I wish the heart itself looked more solid - it seems to be just paper, which clashes a bit with the strength of the image - but that's nitpicking - love it anyway!
