"Frozen" defiantly fits into the Duotone challenge. I think it was important to you the two tones that you choose and I am very glad you did not choose to go black and white with this piece.

The overall shot is nice, the frame is nice and full and creates many different textures. Very interesting idea of a common nature item that was presented very nicely with the two tones. Unfortunately what I think is really hurting the score is the blow areas. The sky probably wouldn't be as noticeable if the ice wasn't front and center of the shot. Overall the shot is nice and its just a same the snow is so overpowering.

I peeked at your portfolio and love your ideas, I really think you have some awesome ideas and can't wait to see what is to come. Keep up the great thinking and work.

Neautiful tones and textures. Nice composition.

I like the duotone colors used here and there is good contrast from the middle down. What hurts this the most is the blown highlights. Not just in the sky but most importantly on the ice itself (I'm assuming that's ice). What I would have tried is to underexpose the shot and get some detail from the ice, which would have also made the sky less distracting. Maybe also use an ND filter? If anything I would rather have the shot underexposed than overexposed since you can always get some detail back from an underexposed image which you can't do from an overexposed one. This holds true even more nowadays with products like neatimage which can do a great job in removing the noise associated with underexposed images.

it took me a bit to figure out what that blown out stuff is. sorry i didnt realize it was snow. maybe you could have left a bit of detail in the snow?
