Greetings from the Critique Club
Oh, boy! I get the chance to Critique a "fotomann-forever" image - and it's got the head of a dead steer in it. Not only that, the steer appears to have been shot between the eyes!
Okay, to business. The lighting here is splendid and interprets the composition beautifully. Well, maybe that sharp shadow along the thigh could have been softened, since it is the only sharp line in the entire frame. But that's 'nitpicking' and probably way difficult to do in Basic Editing mode.
Technically, I find no real flaws in this image, and can only guess that the more staid of our viewers voted comparatively low on your image, thus giving it a lower score than (I think) it deserved.
I hope you're feeling well again, and will look forward to more of your humor on DPC.
ALice

I like style of this image. The lighting is excellent in my opinion. Though I do think their could be a bit more pop in the shaded areas. I gave it an 8. |

very intriguing and creative shot! the usage of lighting is good and very flattering in most areas except on the top right corner where its a little too bright. the bright light on his leg can be distracting... |

Interesting composition. A few hot spots on thigh, skull, and stomach. Great detail. |

Hehe :-) This is actually a pretty cool shot. Really nice job on the duotone. In this challenge, for my high scores I am looking for shots that are not only technically well done, but also have good tonal range to the duotone, and an image where the duotone adds to, or strengthens, or works for the image. I find this photo fits that bill. I also like the solid, strong yet clean composition. It does seem like the lighting coming in from the right is a bit harsh in the top , along the edge of the skull and noticeably on the leg. Maybe that is what you were going for, but I'm thinking the presentation could be a tad bit stronger without that minor distraction. Perhaps by adjusting distance of light source, or diffusing it, or even in editing the hot spots could be toned down just a little. Cool shot overall though. Interesting and well done. Nice job. |
