This is a star trails photo taken at Teakettle Junction, Death Valley, CA. It is approximately a 45 minute exposure with the North Star at the center of the trails. As the Earth rotates, the stars appear to rotate around the North Star.

This shot is fantastic, a little distracting but brilliant. I'm very new to photography, how did you achieve this effect?

I enormously approve of star trail photos. Good work, this one's very clean.

Wow, this photo was well executed by aiming the camera directly at the North Star and using the mountain as your foreground. Being a little more aggresive with the Levels would have made the image pop quite a bit more. That said, your sucessful planning and execution of such a long exposure deserves a high score.

I'm verry curious how you did this. Are those stars? Too bad'there's nothing on the hill. But I like it

How did you do that?! What are "teakettle trails"? Fascinating compositon. I like it. Kind of reminds me of a modern version Van Gogh's Starry, Starry Night. 7
