This is a plaster cast of my face, made for stage makeup (latex prosthetics, etc.). Since I never appear on stage and don't care for acting all that much (I'd much rather direct and write plays), it ends up spooking everybody as I move it around to suprise folks. It is entwined here with my favorite vine: five-leafed akebia.

This is one of the few photos that turned out just like I had imagined it! Maybe I'm improving after all!

I agree with kiwi. I don't understand why this would get so many 1's and 2's.

Excellent image, David!

Thanks for your comments, everyone who did. I figure that some folks didn't think it was *gardeny* enough? It would be nice to know, as I was very pleased with the shot. It's one of my few shots where it came out as planned and where I felt I knew what I was doing the whole time!

This is a very well taken low-key photo. I "only" gave it a 9 :-)

5 X 1's and 5 X 2's is just so insulting!

This was my favorite shot in the competition. I'm surprised others didn't agree. Your idea, composition, tones and interpretation of the theme make this a winner to me. Congrats on a great photo.

I really thought this would either place, or come in top 10. (Although 55/352 is nothing to sneeze at.) I really like this alot. It shows so much more than most photographs. You should be proud of this one!

Missed this one during the voting, but this is a fantastic shot! I love the low-key subdued tones and the symbolism connected with the title. Would have been a solid 10 from me. I'm jealous... VERY nicely done, David!

a bit too dark; I would have expected a bit more contrast

This is just incredible. Grigrigirl is this you? If you're someone else, take that question as a compliment because I love her work. If it were up to me I'd end the challenge right now and declare this the winner.

very nice b&w and the title works effectively to add extra depth.

fabulous. the imagery, the symbolism, the angle, ... it is appropriately dark -even still, I'd like to see it just a tad brighter or contrasty.. but I wouldn't want to ruin the tones either. (confused yet? LOL)
overall .. exceptional!

I'm already coming back to this.. It is already a favorite.

This is definitely 'cool' :) This particular theme shows me a lot of photographic creativity and the black and white is an excellent choice as well. I have no improvement suggestions for you on this. I think the low key works well with the theme of 'speak no evil' suggested by the title. = 10

Great shot, communicates mood very well. Interesting lighting and exploration of textures. Good sharpness. Don't care for your border. 8

Interesting idea. I'm not sure about the choice of b&w, though.

Great choice of duotones. The idea is good too, But! what i would have done is, zoom out and apply the rule of thirds, imo. but great shot 9
