 The Pacific Northwest is famous for its big trees. Among them are Douglas Fir, Ponderosa Pine and Coastal Sequoias. Each has its own particular environment where it thrives.

Douglas Fir live in the Cascade Mountains, Ponderosa Pine in the high desert and Coastal Sequoia along the Northern California Coast. I took images of all three while on vacation there.

This is a closeup of the bark of a near 200 foot tall Ponderosa Pine in the small town of Sisters near Bend in Central Oregon.

I like this..the curves and texture are amazing. However I think the light might be a tad harsh. It almost makes me want to squint while I look at the shot. :)

Love the color and texture of this shot. I wold have cropped out the dark spot (corner) on the left however, and about an inch off of the right also.
